send emails by admin (without "direct email" plugin)

Is it possible, as administrator, to send email to users through the forum? Without installing the "Direct Email" plugin? I don't want users to be able to email each other. I feel like this is something I can do, but I've been searching the manual and setup_options and haven't figured it out.

Thanks for any help!

As administrator, go to admin panel, then "search users". Get any email in search results, click on it and compose the message using your regular email client.

Post as a Guest, leaving the Password field blank. You could also enter a Guest name, if it's not taken by a member yet. Sign-in and post at once, or just sign-in, bypassing the message's text.
