Create test file like this:

<?php
mail('YOUR_EMAIL_HERE','subject','message');
?>

and run it, if you received a message - it's working.

Should you check your miniBB settings first? Maybe something is disabled, huh?

miniBB uses the same mail() function. We have just added a couple of headers, that's all.

It would be cool if you share your knowledge, what have you fixed in options, so another users could find it useful too.

Sure!
All i did was to set the following options in setup_options.php to 1

$emailadmin=1;
$emailusers=1;
$emailadmposts=1;

And of course this option is set to 0:
$genEmailDisable=0;

First i thought this was done, and the mail still didnt work, but maybe I did an error somewhere :)

If $genEmailDisable was set to 1, I'm not wondering why it was not working.

I am real confused with the email functions in miniBB 2RC5. What is miniBB utilizing to send email? I am on a hosted server with sendmail.

I am asking this because emails have stopped going out to new users, new passwords, etc. All worked fine for a while but now nothing is reaching anyone. I have done absolutely nothing that would alter the email functions.

Do I have a choice in how emails go out? I have smtp thru my host and really would like to use that unless someone has a suggestion other than sendmail. There have always been sendmail difficulties on this host and it's not trustable.

Whatever, is there some way for me to check out or alter whatever miniBB is using to send email?
