Hi puchased a licenced version and have had no problems , but there is a mod i would like to make the forum a bit more user friendly, i hope it's achievable....

I have imported my site database and existing members can log on OK from my main site

As i don't have a complete database of names , for importing to work i am using the record number for logging on which works fine but obviously shows this in the user name as xxxxxx which is as friendly as John Doe

How can i change the name field to be displayed instead of the record number . If the name exists print that if it doesn't print 'anonymous'

Thankyou

Tony

hello.. first of all we need to know how did you get the record number to show instead of the name field? :) have you inserted all userids from your database as usernames into miniBB users table? then why didn't you insert usernames there wherever possible instead?

Also the best way is using $dbUserScheme and adding required miniBB fields to your database (if possible):

https://www.minibb.com/forums/manual.html#config1

If you'll adjust this database structure definition in the setup_options.php file and add all miniBB default/required fields to your existing database, you will be able to use it to store all miniBB members (both existing and future ones..)
