How do I let registered users edit their own posts? A lot of members are complaining of making typos and they have no way of fixing them.

If you install the software correctly, they should be able to edit their posts..

All they see is Reply Quote just like when I sign into this forum and view my own posts? Everything else works fine and don't get any errors so I am sure its installed correctly

Make sure you have this: {$allowed} included somewhere in main_posts_cell.html

Yeah I have this. I've added custom rankings and signatures and changed this file a little but I don't see anything wrong with it? Is there a setting in setup_options.php I might have misread?

<tr valign="top" class="{$bg}">
<td class="caption1">
<a name="msg{$cols[6]}" href="JavaScript:paste_strinL('{$posterNameJs}',2)">
<span class="username">{$posterName}</span>
</a>
<br />
<span class="txtSm">{$viewReg}</span>
<br />
<span class="txtSm">{$userInfo_user_from[$poster_id]}</span>
<br/><br />
<span class="txtSm">{$userInfo_num_posts[$poster_id]}</span>
</td>
<td class="caption1">
<span class="txtSm">
<a href="#msg{$cols[6]}">#</a> {$l_posted}: {$postDate}{$editedBy}{$viewIP}
<br />
{$eachReply}<script type="text/javascript">getQuotation();</script>{$allowed}{$moveLink}
</span>
<br /><br />{$posterText}{$deleteBox}<br /><br/>----------------------------------------------------{$userInfo_user_custom2[$poster_id]}<br /><br />
</td>
</tr>

In setup_options.php make sure that you have this: $useredit and it's value is more than 0, for example there should be:

$useredit=3600; // user can edit message for 3600 seconds

$useredit=86400;

Is this saying they can only edit within 86400 seconds after posting? If so , how do you make this indefinite?

Its still not working.

Yes :). But I don't think it's "only" - I have it set up to 1800 seconds because there may be too much confusion when a poster replies and then the original poster edits the message so that the reply doesn't make sense then etc.

You can set $useredit=315360000 to allow them to edit the post for 10 years; that should be enough ;).
