This forum has 3500 members who have registered here because they're interested in this specific subject. If you'd send users a newsletter about some tempting subject, like for example a competition, you'd get a lot of targeted PR.

In my experience competition is a good way to get people visit forum and website. If you would organize something like make a new free theme for miniBB or code a new free plugin for miniBB, that might increase traffic and get more people involved.

Regarding deletion from Wikipedia: it's the same story as happened with BBPress, forums subdivision of Wordpress, in August 2008.

A good humor sense from the authors.

miniBB can not be under competitors attack, because comparing to the competitors army, it's still nothing. Everything compares. Ok you give few thousands forums worldwide, but the army gave millions of such. If it's not mentioning with Wikipedia, it doesn't mean miniBB is not important, just because Wikipedia means a meaning for millions. MiniBB just means a meaning for less.

The main story here is, what is "the trusted source" regarding Wikipedia rules. It seems such sources may be just the source of Wikipedia income. You pay to the trusted sources, trusted sources pay to Wikipedia. That's how the big business works.
