Why [url=...][/url] tag may not work?

In my forum your tag [url=][/url] doesn't work with www2.... links and instead link I can see native code:
[url=www2.mysite.com]www2.mysite.com[/url]

Why?

BECAUSE it should begin either from http:// or https:// according to www standarts.

[url=http://www.mysite.com]
MySite[/url]
