One of the rarest and most precious oils, Argan oil is native to only one small area in southern Morocco and thus there is a limited supply of it year to year. Nevertheless, this highly sought after oil has numerous medical, dietary, and cosmetic benefits that make it worth its price. Traditionally gathered by native Moroccan women, the kernels were crushed between two stones in order to harvest the inner seeds. Combined with water, the mixture would be pulverized and kneaded. It would take more than ten hours to produce a single liter of the valuable oil by this hand method.
Argan oil helps to soften the skin and reduce wrinkles. It also increases the elasticity of the skin and even helps cellular regeneration. Its antioxidant properties help to ward off premature aging caused by pollution, contaminants, sun, stress etc. This also helps to heal brittle nails and lines around the eyes. Argan oil is useful in healing psoriasis, acne, and eczema, and healing the blemishes caused by acne and chicken pox. Hair can also benefit, as just a few drops can help with damaged split ends, restore a healthy luster to the hair, and reduce damage from sunlight during outdoor activities. It also helps prevent breakage. |
