Hi everybody,

my forum is exposed by a strange kind of spamming. See
http://www.prijimacky-tsp.cz/index.php?action=vthread&forum=9&topic=23 1&page=10
("user" CIALIS)

I tried to solve this problem by installing the Flood Filter, but it doesn't work. This reply is not posted by standard user (on the left column there is no "member") but it is no anonymous... Is there any way how to get rid of these spams?

Thank you in advance,
w*

That is really unfortunate. I get these all the time in email. Look EXACTLY like the messages you are receiving.

Make sure you either have your guests register before posting, or add the CAPTCHA option. These should certainly help.

This is anonymous automated spam. As already michael1234 said, if you want to keep forums both for anonymous and member postings, just get Captcha addon, or if anonymous users don't make sense, make the forums for registered members only ( $allForumsReg option ).

I have now started to get spam from spam bots that registers on the forum and then posts the spam. Anyone else with this problem? I suppose the only way to get rid of this problem is to install a plugin?

Maybe it's because I have an older version of minibb I get this problem?

You can, of course, buy the Captcha plugin, but why don't you try, too, to go to registration via email, and close the open registration?

$closeRegister=1;

That would probably help :-) Thank you!

Anonymous, to set your entire forum to be for registered users only, in setup_options.php change
//$allForumsReg=TRUE;
to
$allForumsReg=TRUE;

- simply remove the two forward slashes before the dollar sign.

All the best -
mb

Hey there, its been around a year since I installed a miniBB on a personal site. I dont have the time or knowledge to perform a complete update with exchanging dozens of files in directories and subdirectories and subsubdirectories... :/ Is there a easy way to get rid of the spambots attacking my board? One file to change or something?

1. If you want to keep your forums opened for anonymous visitors, purchase and install Human Authorization addon (Captcha).

2. Make all forums for registered users only ($allForumsReg setting in setup_options.php)
