security of php files in the forum root

I cannot find the php 'die' statement anywhere. So, I'm a bit concerned on how the PHP files are secured from prying eyes. They have to be readable by the webserver and so they can be "GET" by visitors. phpBB excludes files using the apache <Files .. > statement. How are the php files secured by miniBB?

DIE statements are on top of all partial files, if you refer to this thread, it may help you to understand how it works in miniBB.

phpBB is not the standard...
