Make sure you are testing like a regular user, not the admin.

If you see the "Subscribe" check box appearing, most likely all other things should work. But why it doesn't work on your end - sorry, I can't tell you without seeing any file, any code, any set up, any URL - nobody can be wizard to solve your problem on air!
